Monitoring visit to the Johannesburg Downtown Studios by The Presidency
The Deputy Minister in The Presidency for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Mr Obed Bapela, supported by the technical staff from the DPME, senior officials from the Department of Arts and Culture and representatives from the entertainment fraternity, will be conducting an announced monitoring visit to the Downtown Studios in Johannesburg.13 March 2013

Game reserves in both the North West and Mpumalanga; have recently been hit by the ongoing scourge of rhino poaching. South Africa has lost a total of 588 rhinos to poachers since the beginning of 2012, the Kruger National Park remains the hardest hit, having lost more than 320 rhinos. On the weekend of 17-18 November, seven rhino carcasses were found in Finfoot Lake Reserve in the Klipkopspruit Farm in the North West.10 December 2012
Frontline Service Delivery visit to KTC Health Centre, Gugulethu Township, Cape Town
The Deputy Minister of Performance, Monitoring and Evaluation in the Presidency, Hon. Obed Bapela supported by the Department of Performance Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) technical staff and the Western Cape officials, conducted unannounced visits on the 24th October 2012 to various townships in Cape Town to assess the delivery of services to the communities of Western Cape. The service delivery points visited included a primary and high schools at Hanover Park and Valhaha Park, KTC Community Health Centre (CHC), SASSA and municipal billing offices at Gugulethu and Thusong centre at Nyanga.30 October 2012
Youth Expo to Empower Underprivileged Community of Alexandra
The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) will host a Youth Expo in Alexandra Township on 19 October 2012. The Alexandra Youth Expo will coincide with the Alexandra Centenary Celebrations in which Deputy Minister in the Presidency responsible for Performance, Monitoring and Evaluation Obed Bapela has committed to assist in improving economic participation of youth and improving the levels of education.16 October 2012

Rhino poaching may lead to extinction - Monitoring Visit of the Deputy Minister in the Presidency Obed Bapela to the North West Province, Pilanseberg Game Reserve
The Deputy Minister of Performance Monitoring and Evaluation in the Presidency, Hon. Obed Bapela this week visited the North West Province in an effort to find solutions to the escalating rhino poaching incidents in the Province, and also to monitor rhino poaching activities as it forms part of Output 4 of Outcome 10 which is the development of legislative tools to protect biodiversity. South Africa has experienced a hike in rhino poaching and has received a lot of attention, locally and globally, and the North West is the 2nd highest hit with this scourge of rhino killings after the Kruger National Park.13 January 2012
